Strong Women Always Train (S.W.A.T)

New Class to start at Northlake!

S.W.A.T. (Strong Women Always Train) Northlake

Starting in September, Northlake will be launching a brand new class. The idea for this class has been brewing for quite a while. When I first started CrossFit myself, I never realized how much fun I would have becoming competitive with it. It was simply about a great workout I could fit into an already crazy life schedule. On a whim that fall I decided to compete in the Carolina Fitness Challenge with a group from Vitality. I figured it would be a fun day to hang out with my friends and see what competing was all about. From that moment on I was hooked. I came away from the event completely humbled but ready to try again. I also now had a laundry list of goals to work on, and it made CrossFit that much more exciting. I also signed up for my first ever Open that year with the encouragement of Steve and haven’t looked back since.

One of my favorite parts of coaching is watching fellow women realize how much fun competing is and watching them give it a try for the first time. I watch women walk into events scared of the unknown and leave with their heads held high realizing how strong and capable they are. My goal for this class is to meet once a week, have fun going through a tough workout together, and learn and grow from one another. The class will be ninety minutes and will include a warm up/mobility time, skill/strength time, and workout time. There are no prerequisites for this class (all ability levels are welcome). It is open to females from other gyms as well. After watching the Goddess Games all last weekend I realized the extreme talent of women we have in our area. How fun would it be to be able to workout with, and learn from other girls from other gyms. My overall vision is to create a fun group of girls that get together four times a month to challenge each other, teach each other, and encourage each other as we pursue our individual competitive goals.

  • September 13: 11:00
  • September 19: 10:30
  • September 27: 11:00
